Website Accessibility & Scanning

In following Section 508 and CSU Chancellor’s Office Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) for website compliance, we use a combination of methods i.e. automated scanning, manual testing, browser extension, outsourced broken link checker and other accessibility tools to reduce barriers and continually improve our website accessibility baseline.  

Pope Tech Automated Scanning Tool

We discontinued using Compliance Sheriff. Pope Tech utilizes WAVE to identify errors/issues that don't meet WCAG standards. In addition to scanning your site, you can:

• Create/scheduling reports
• Track your progress over time
• Access to easy to follow articles/videos on a variety of accessibility topics

To get started, submit a request for Pope Tech initial account setup and training. Training is approximately 30 minutes depending on questions you may have. Once the request is approved and a date/time is set, you will be sent an invitation to log into Pope Tech with your campus credentials. Please check that you are able to log into Pope Tech prior to the sheduled meeting date/time. If you have trouble logging into the account, please contact WebATI. After successfully logging in the first time, if you forget your password at a later time, please use the 'Forget Password' link and follow the instructions provided.

Manual Testing

During the scheduled reporting dates, our ATI coordinator will work with a student hire who is screen reader trained to manually test and flag a sampling of pages for reporting purposes.  We recommend all ATI contacts, perform regular manual testing to increase site accessibility.
