Spring 2024 Workshop

Topic: Understanding Privilege

Facilitators: N'Dea Johnson and Steven Filling

Dea and Steven

For this 2.5-hour interactive workshop, we reflect on several types of privileges as societally granted, unearned advantages that are systemic or structural. Through exercises and discussions, we uncover many faces of privilege (race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic levels, ableism, immigration, etc.), how they work, and why they perpetuate oppression. Together we brainstorm ways to dismantle systems of domination and oppression.

Date and Location: 26 April 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Gordon Hall (GH) Rm 336
