The Center for Scholars serves six different student scholar populations including:

Abrego Future Scholars

Abrego Future Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars, they receive two year scholarships and support services for historically under-represented first-generation college students. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

Scholarship Program Application

Applications for Fall 2024 are closed. 

Support Services Provided

  • Two year scholarship ($1500 for each academic year)
  • Leadership & Professional Development
  • Access to the resources of the Center for Scholars

Eligibility Requirements

  • be a first-time freshman or first-time transfer student
  • be a first generation college student, parent(s) have not earned a college degree
  • high school applicants must have an weighted GPA of 3.0 or above
  • transfer applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • be prepared to enroll full-time (12 or more units)

Guardian Scholars

Guardian Scholars provides support and resources to current and former foster youth. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

Guardian Scholars Application

Application is open year round. Incoming students are encouraged to apply after completing their CSU Apply application. Current students can apply at any time.

Support Services Provided

The Guardian Scholars provides services from the Center for Scholars in collaboration with on-campus partners which include the following:

  • Connection to essential resouces & community
  • Priority consideration to Year-Round On-Campus Housing
  • Priority Course Registration
  • Community Enrichment Activities
  • Educational support resources, when available, can include support for books and supplies, parking permit or bus pass, technology support and other needs.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Program is open to Undergraduate and Graduate Students
  • Must have been in the foster care system
    • Request a copy of your Foster Youth Verification Letter from your social worker, ILP Coordinator, the county you were in care, or the state.

My Future Pathways Scholars

A partnership with Orange Coast College (OCC) which aims to support first-generation college students who are transfering from OCC to Cal State Fullerton.  Specialized programming has been established to support academic, career, and personal development. 

Support Services Provided

  • Financial support that works in partnership with student's individual financial aid packages which includes a $4,000 annual scholarship.
  • Support services and resources provided by the Center for Scholars
  • Activities and programming coordinated by the Center for Scholars

Nicholas Academic Center Scholars

Nicholas Academic Center Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars and in partnership with the Nicholas Academic Center (NAC) based in Santa Ana. Students who are graduates of NAC must apply for scholarships from NAC. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

  • Financial   support that works in partnership with student's individual financial aid packages.
  • Support services and resources provided by the Center for Scholars
  • Activities and programming coordinated by the Center for Scholars

President's Scholars

President's Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars, they receive a tuition-based scholarship and support services for a duration of four years. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

  • Financial   support that works in partnership with student's individual financial aid packages and includes: scholarship to pay for tuition, complimentary parking pass, and book stipend. Renewable for up to four years.
  • Support services and resources provided by the Center for Scholars
  • Activities and programming coordinated by the Center for Scholars

Eligibility Requirements

  • be a high school senior who has applied to CSUF for the following fall semester
  • have a weighted GPA of 3.75 or above
  • demonstrate significant contributions to school and community

Sun Family Foundation Scholars

Sun Family Foundation Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars and in partnership with the Sun Family Foundation. The Foundation provides scholarships to selected students who participated for at least 3 years in the AVID programming in high school. The Center for Scholars aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

  • Students apply for the AVID Scholarship through the Orange County Community Foundation for consideration for this scholarship.
