Titans Thinking Together (T3) is an initiative of the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs that aims to promote collaborative research by bringing together faculty expertise around critically important regional, national, and global problems.  Capitalizing on the collaborative research already taking place on campus, T3 formalizes a way for participants to find campus partners, and provides guidance and incentives for faculty, researchers, and students from different disciplines to generate a cross-pollination of ideas and expertise.

Goals of T3

Goals of T3

The goals of the T3 are focused on enhancing cross-campus collaborations among CSUF faculty to address critical problems facing the local community and California. Specifically, T3 aims to:

  1. Facilitate Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Encourage faculty from various disciplines and colleges to work together, leveraging complementary expertise to tackle regional and state challenges.
  2. Support Research and Creative Activities: Provide guidance and financial resources to foster innovative research projects that align with priority areas, enhancing the value of CSUF as a regional partner.
  3. Enhance Student Opportunities: Create more opportunities for students through faculty-mentored research, preparing them to be engaged, problem-solving participants in society.
  4. Host Collaborative Events: Organize meetings, workshops, and forums to spotlight projects, expand collaborations, and facilitate discussions with external and campus resources.
  5. Promote Professional Development: Support faculty and research teams in participating in professional development, conferences, and community-building events.

2025 Application Details

Submission Deadline is Friday, May 16, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. 

Submission Requirements:

  1. Proposals must include faculty from three or more disciplines across two or more colleges.
  2. Research teams should consist of new campus partnerships, although some preexisting collaborations are allowed.
  3. At least one junior faculty member must be included in the research team.

If funded, team members will participate in professional development, conferences, and community-building events hosted by ORSP.

Proposal Content:

  1. A statement of interest identifying the Priority Research Area and faculty participants.
  2. A general description of the research team's goals, interdisciplinary value, available resources, and alignment with the Priority Research Area (3 pages).
  3. A statement describing the project's significance for the region or state (1 page).
  4. Plans to foster student research and professional experiences (1 page).
  5. An estimated budget and timeline of activities for the first year (1 page each).
  6. A two-page CV for each faculty member involved.

Funding:

Expected funding is up to $20,000 annually, with eligibility for renewal for up to 3 years based on satisfactory performance.
