Faculty Research Committee

A committee of the Academic Senate, the Faculty Research Committee’s purpose is to review and recommend faculty intramural and junior/senior awards to the president for approval and distribution. The committee formulates, reviews and recommends policies regarding awarding of grants, which are administered by the CSUF Office of Grants and Contracts. The committee also assesses faculty needs in areas of research and creative activities, and makes recommendations to the Academic Senate and president. Further, the committee works with the campus community to enhance the university’s research climate.

Fund for Scholarly and Creative Activities
The Fund for Scholarly and Creative Activities supports creative and scholarly activities of faculty, recognizing their need to dedicate significant time to such endeavors. Selected tenured and tenure-track faculty receive up to one course of assigned time.

Incentive Grants to Encourage External Funding
Incentive grants provide the seed money necessary to assist faculty submit competitive external funding requests at the local, regional and/or national level. Recipients receive a maximum award of $10,000, plus assigned time at the standard rate, pending college approval.

State Special Fund Mini-Grants
Mini-grants fund scholarly research or creative activity to allow faculty to test promising ideas, obtain preliminary results or continue existing projects. Recipients receive a maximum award of $5,000, which cover operating expenses.

State Special Fund Summer Stipend
Summer stipends allow qualified faculty to use the summer to inaugurate, continue or complete a project of creative scholarship or research. Award recipients receive an additional month of summer salary.

Senior, Junior and General Faculty Research Grants
Faculty Research grants support and enhance faculty research and creative activities, as well as provide support in competing for external funding. Recipients receive a maximum award of $5,000, and/or assigned time at the standard rate, pending college approval.
