What are the CSUF Community Literacy Festival's goals?
The Cal State Fullerton Community Literacy Festival celebrates the magic of storytelling and children's books, while raising awareness of the lifelong power of literacy. It gives children and their families the opportunity to meet authors and illustrators who create books just for them. Our goals are to (1) promote reading to, with, and by children;(2) forge connections between the university and the greater Orange County community; and (3) help children expand their worlds through fiction and non-fiction reading.
Who comes to the Festival?
People of all ages and those from diverse cultures come from throughout Orange County including children, teens, parents and grandparents, teachers and librarians, community members across careers and professions, and Cal State Fullerton pre-service and inservice students in fields including child and adolescent studies, and CSUF alumni from a cross section of professions.
How much does the Festival cost?
Admission is free, parking is free, refreshments are free, children's books are free. The $23,000 budget includes such expenses as: hospitality costs for the authors, illustrators, and other presenters; publicity and promotional materials, supplies, signage, and office expenses, honoraria for the speakers/presenters.
