She will also talk about the "journey" of this book from idea to publication as well as the "ups" and "down" of the writing business. Using a sure-fire writing exercise, she will help participants jumpstart their own stories. |

Reading Bilingual Children's BooksCome share in an exiting hour with Bilingual Author Mary Cappellini while she reads books in both English and Spanish. Want to learn Spanish? Mary will teach you a few words using some of her emergent children's books, like Huella de pescado and Yo juego fútbol. Want to hear a good book in Spanish? You can follow along on the screen as Mary reads her award-winning book—The Story of Doña Chila—El cuento de Doña Chila. Mary will also share some of her books in English, including the award-winning book—I am of Two Places, which features children's poetry in English. It's also available in Spanish. Where Do Stories Come From?Children all over the country ask author Mary Cappellini this question, so she will share where she got the ideas for some of the stories she has written, both fiction and non-fiction, including: The Big Catch, The Story of Doña Chila, Whale Watching, Fish Print, The Sunflower, The Lac Hong Music Group and In the Mountains. As she shares her books, she will help you think about your stories which can become books of your own. She took photographs for many of her books and will share tips on how to take photos for your own books! |
