University Honors Program - 
Transfer Applicants

The University Honors Program offers transfer students an academically enriching experience, while at California State University, Fullerton. Those admitted to the program will join a dedicated group of students who are striving to get the most from their collegiate experience. Cal State Fullerton university honors students are well-rounded individuals working together to prepare for success.

Admission Criteria

Transfer students who have been admitted to Cal State Fullerton (applications are available at Admissions & Records or www.csumentor.edu/AdmissionApp) and who have participated in an honors program at the institution from which they are transferring may apply to the University Honors Program if they have:

bullet Achieved a CSU transferable grade point average of 3.3 at the time of your enrollment.
bullet Completed a minimum of nine to twelve units of college-level honors credits before transfer to Cal State Fullerton.
bullet Complete a written application, including essays for the Honors Program.
bullet Provide Two letters of reference

Admission to the University Honors Program for transfer students who have not completed at least nine units of honors coursework at their transfer institution or for continuing Cal State Fullerton students is available on a limited basis. The program is generally feasible for lower division students only. Contact the Director of the University Honors Program or the Director of Honor & Scholars Support Services to find out if you might be eligible.

Automatic admission into the Honors Program is available for qualified transfer students with a 3.6 CSU transferable GPA from a California Honors Transfer Council institution. To qualify materials must be received by February 28. For priority consideration, please submit all materials by January 30.

bullet Required honors colloquium 2 units
bullet Honors seminar fulfilling an upper-division general education requirement 3 units

   
Year Four
- 6 units

bullet Required honors colloquium 2 units
bullet Required senior honors project 5 units

   
Optional

bullet Independent study/research 3 units
bullet Study abroad 3-6 units

Maintaining Eligibility 

Transfer students accepted into the University Honors Program must be regularly enrolled in the university, continuously enrolled in honors courses, and participate in co-curricular Honors Program activities. In order to remain in the program and receive University Honors recognition at graduation, students must:

bullet Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 at graduation.
bullet Accumulate 24 units worth of honors coursework including completion of a senior honors project.  (At least 12 honors units must be completed through the University Honors Program at Cal State Fullerton.)

Priority filing of applications is January 30 for the subsequent fall semester. Applications received following January 30 will be considered as space in the program permits. Priority filing of spring applications is October 1.
