Program Requirements
After being selected as an Abrego Future Scholar, students must complete these requirements to maintain their eligibility in the program and to receive funding during the spring semester.
FIRST-TIME FRESHMEN
Learning Community
- Take two courses each semester (fall & spring) selected by the program with other AFS students
Advising & Coaching
- Meet with Center for Scholars Team twice a semester:
- Check in and semester planning
- Personalized Academic Advising to prepare for course registration and develop Academic Plan
Attend AFS Programs & Events
- Attend monthly program meetings
- Attend one social event
- Attend one networking event
Campus Workshop
- Attend one campus workshop a semester — Learn about things like campus services, a student organization, or how to develop a resume
Community Service
- Student must participate in one volunteer or community service activity a semester
Grade Cards
- Students will submit one grade card per course before their advisement requirement both during the fall and spring semester
Mentoring
- Monthly check ins with an assigned Faculty/Staff mentor and with their AFS Peer Mentor
Academic Metrics
- Students must enroll in 12 or more units a semester
- Students must maintain a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.5
