Biography :
Dr. Pinaki R. Chakrabarti has served as a faculty member of the Civil & Environmental Engineering department for 33 years, 12 of which were spent as the department chair. He created a state-of-the-art structural engineering lab and started large-scale engineering research in the department. He has obtained several major grants and published many papers in various fields. Presently, he has been serving as a Professor-Emeritus at CSUF for the past 5 years. He is a member of ACI and SEAOC, and is a fellow of ASCE. Dr. Chakrabarti was a registered civil engineer (PE) in the state of New York and is currently a registered civil engineer (PE) and a registered structural engineer (SE) in the state of California. He spent 22 years in the civil engineering industry prior to joining CSUF during which he worked as a construction manager of Shalimar-Tar, Calcutta, as a senior engineer of Burns & Row -- Nuclear Division, New Jersey, as the chief structural engineer of T.Y.Lin Associates, New York, and as a principal engineer of A.C.Martin Associates, Los Angeles and Ralph M. Parsons Corp, Pasadena. He has designed several notable award-winning structures across the United States. He has also worked as an independent consulting structural engineer before and after joining CSUF. His achievements have been recognized by Orange County Metro Magazine and Orange County Engineering Council. Dr. Chakrabarti is also very much involved in community works.
