Information and Training Dates
CSUF’s Safe Space Program is an opportunity for faculty and staff to become more familiar with issues facing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, as well as resources available to serve this community. Following completion of the two-part training program, faculty and staff will have a better understanding from the student perspective as well as existing research on LGBT community issues. All SafeSpace Allies will also receive a certificate of completion and Safe Space Tuffy Decal to display in their offices.
SafeSpace: LGBT 101
This training provides participants with an introduction to the terminology, developmental process and certain cultural aspects of the LGBT community. The session aims to help bring a basic level of awareness of LGBT issues related to our students.
SafeSpace Ally Training
This training consists of 3 components: (1) a power point presentation that highlights the expectations of allies and focuses on the coming out process; (2) a student panel that explores the LGBT experience on campus, and (3) an opportunity for attendees to practice being allies.
