About the Center

The Center’s mission, in collaboration with industry partners, is to provide a portal for directed engineering research and design projects. The purpose is to create a mutually beneficial research platform between ECS and local industry where students benefit from gaining practical experience explicitly related to a sponsoring partner’s domain and where industry partners benefit from potentially innovative ideas and product design from senior engineering students. Industry sponsors also benefit from having recruitment access to students who are already familiar with their organization’s research goals. These deliverables will be achieved by integrating the mentorship of industry experts with the interdisciplinary knowledge base of engineering students and faculty and through utilization of the College’s broad engineering capabilities through state-of-the-art engineering labs. Additionally, the Center will conduct pedagogical research into the impact of project based learning opportunities in engineering education.

Center Capabilities

Faculty Support

The CCRPD is dedicated to helping ECS faculty members achieve their collaborative research and educational goals. Working with the ECS Research Grant Specialist (RGS), the CCRPD holds workshops to connect ECS faculty with potential collaborators and facilitates a mentorship program for new and junior ECS faculty members. Additionally, the CCRPD can help with logistical and administrative support for larger collaborative projects (e.g., assisting with identifying qualified Student Assistants (SAs), hosting SAs in one of the CCRPD facilities, assisting in administrative tasks, etc.).

Facilities

The CCRPD is located in room E-43 of the ECS building on the main campus of CSUF, which houses the ECS departments and programs. Additionally, students working on center related projects will have full access to several labs in the Computer Engineering program and Mechanical Engineering department. These facilities can also be used to host center related events such as workshops, meetings, host SAs, etc.

ECS Corporate Partners Program (CPP)

Every year, hundreds of local and national organizations come to CSUF to recruit students for jobs and internships. Getting students attention is a difficult task. By joining the ECS Corporate Partners Program, you dramatically increase your organizations’ visibility with our highly talented and diverse student population.
