CSU/Edison Scholars Program

Purpose: The CSU/Edison Scholars Program has been established by a partnership between five California State University campuses and Edison International. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase the number of students earning degrees in technical fields who are first generation and from low-income backgrounds.

Edison International has pledged $200,000.00 for a one year period to the CSU system to be used for student scholarships. These funds will provide scholarships to community college students who transfer to one of five CSU institutions.

Addressing Our Community Needs: There is a widening gap between the state’s workforce needs and the number of science, engineering and mathematics degrees awarded by California institutions. Educational partnerships such as CSU/Edison Transfer Scholarship are an important tool for addressing this shortfall. This scholarship will help increase the number of professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and is crucial in developing a more culturally competent workforce. Scholarships range from $1,000 - $3,000 per year and are renewable for at least a two-year period.

Students going into health professions/pre-medicine are not eligible
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Recipients are selected based on merit and academic promise
  • Preferences will be given to students from low income backgrounds who are first generation college students. Demonstrated commitment to community services will also be considered
  • In order to remain eligible during the scholarship period, students must: remain in good standing automatically, remain enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 9 units) and remain a declared major in the specified field.
