8th annual Gianneschi Summer School
Alumna Maria Mederos '13 (Communications) attended the 8th annual Gianneschi Summer School for Nonprofits in her role as the recipient of the 2013 Gianneschi Fellowship in Nonprofit Leadership, which she is completing this summer at Families Forward in Irvine. The Nonprofit Professionals Chapter is one of more than 20 associations that co-sponsor the annual professional development and capacity building conference. This year, the 32 separate sessions were attended by 500 people representing nonprofits and related businesses throughout Southern California.
13th annual Nonprofit Professionals Alumni Chapter Award presented
Jody Cajudo, a Health Science / Asian American Studies double major who expects to graduate in 2015, got a boost toward her ongoing studies on May 7, when she was presented with the 13th annual Nonprofit Professionals Award. The $1,000 scholarship is funded by alumni who work in the nonprofit sector and want to encourage fellow Titans to pursue careers in service. The award was presented by new Nonprofit Professionals chapter board member Danielle Talentino Tuason '06 at the annual Community Engagement Awards ceremony. Cajudo took time out from her regular Tuesday afternoon class to accept the award, and she was joined by all of her classmates and instructor Dr. Tu-Uyen Nguyen, who led the cheers in the packed ballroom. Donations to the award fund are welcome!
See www.fullerton.edu/NPAA for more information about the chapter and all the annual award recipients dating back to 2001.
Nonprofit Professionals Chapter Mixer at Women Helping Women
You don't have to be adept at Tweeting to have an effective professional presence online. That's the message that chief brand officer Eric Vonheim illustrated for the 35 guests who attended the Nonprofit Professionals Chapter mixer at Women Helping Women / Men2Work in Santa Ana on Wednesday, October 10. CSUF Alumni Association and chapter member Brateil Aghasi '05 hosted the event aimed at bringing together alumni and non-alums who work for nonprofit organizations. Vonheim's presentation ignited the crowd's grasp of the new ways that LinkedIn offers people to "brand" themselves professionally, connect with those whose professional interests we share, enhance our images through recommendations and endorsements, and harness this powerful tool for the benefit of our careers and our organizations. Brateil invited attendees to propose new topics and sites for future chapter events -- mixers can be organized anytime!
The purpose of the Nonprofit Professionals Chapter is to reacquaint fellow Cal State Fullerton alumni, and to join together in professional development, social activity, and community service.
- To assist with strengthening the educational experience of Cal State Fullerton students.
- To help connect alumni with one another, with other nonprofit professionals, and with the University.
- To promote the professional image of the nonprofit sector.
- To foster strong links between present and former students, and to create mentoring opportunities for current students.
- To offer opportunities for professional networking.
- To facilitate social interactions among the members of the association.
