Accessibility and Accommodations at CSUF Commencement 2025
Cal State Fullerton Commencement exercises take place each year at the end of the spring semester. Students graduating at the end of the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semesters are eligible to participate in Commencement 2025 in May.
We are committed to ensuring that all students can fully participate in the Commencement Ceremony. If you require any accommodations, please submit a Commencement Accommodation Request Form for disability-related accommodations (by Friday May 9, 2025).
Please note: Graduates must register for commencement, sercure seating/tickets, then request accommodations separately via the DSS request form.
For more information, please visit the CSUF Commencement Webpage.
DSS Student Information
- DSS Staff will be stationed at Check in Tables on commencement days.
- DSS students who have ADA seating needs and wish to be seated with their peer(s)/companion during the ceremony should plan to check in at the table first to receive instructions.
- We suggest arriving early for coordination of seating ahead of the ceremony.
- DSS students who require mobility, wheelchair, or visual assistance will need to bring a personal companion (peer, friend, or family member) to accompany them or assist with pushing the wheelchair. You may receive access to the area prior to other students, if needed. Please complete the Commencement Accommodation Request Form to request early access and/or accommodations.
Guest Information
- If you have an ADA (seating) need, please inform staff at the check in area of your respective need(s).
- For ADA seating needs, we encourage you to arrive early as seating is limited.
- It is recommended that guests arrive at least 60 minutes before the ceremony start time if requiring stadium staff mobility assistance.
- Parking opens 90 minutes in advance of each ceremony.
Captioning During Commencement
- Live captioning for in-person ceremonies will be available the week of Commencement. You may also use your mobile device to access a Commencement livestream with captions on the date and time of the event.
Wheelchair Assistance
- The University will provide one (1) additional companion seat for anyone who needs or is utilizing wheelchair/visual assistance.
- Please note that wheelchairs will not be available for public use. Those who may need them should bring their own wheelchairs and mobility devices.
- There will be a significant walking distance from the parking areas to the ceremony locations, so please plan accordingly. There will be a shuttle service to and from the ADA parking areas. Please note that shuttles may not be wheelchair accessible.
- If you have guests who require ADA accommodation, please refer to the commencement guest accommodations website.
Service Animals Vs. Emotional Support Animals
- Please note, Cal State Fullerton welcomes service animals on campus to do work or perform tasks for any graduates or guests with disabilities. The work or tasks performed by the service animal must be directly related to the guest's disability.
- As such, animals that solely provide emotional support or companionship to a guest will not be permitted.
- Admitted Service Animals must always be under the control of the handler, exhibit appropriate behavior, and be housebroken.
- All service animals must stay in ticketed areas and may not block any aisle, hallway, etc.
- DSS advises that you relieve your Service Animal prior to the ceremony.
- Please leave
pets
at home for their safety and comfort as the Commencement environment may have large crowds, heat, noise and a significant amount of activity.
- Please note California State Law prohibits leaving an animal inside a confined vehicle.
Please feel free to contact dsservices@fullerton.edu if you have any questions.
